Kamashastra

KAMASHASTRA

INTRODUCTION

The supreme soul bestows his endless bounty on all creation without discrimination. However, human beings enjoy a privileged position because God has endowed them with intelligence. A human mind can think of its interests and is inclined to act accordingly. The Supreme soul, the father of all creatures, wishes well irrespective of the quality of the creature. Hence, time and again, he takes incarnations as animals, birds, aquatic animals and human being in order to do away with the crises that face humanity. At the same time, the incarnation created by God teaches valuable lessons through his qualities. Often, the sage and ascetics act as a means of carrying out the work for the benefit of all.MAHARSHI VATSAYAN:EXPONENT OF KAMASUTRAWell before the exposition of Kamasutra, a certain sage called Babhravpanchal had compiled a treatise, the Kama Shastra.  It is a large collection but unavailable at this time. It is an extensive text and, later scholars divided it into different volumes. Maharshi Vatsayan had actually produced an abridged version of  the Kama Shastra. There are disputes regarding the time period of Vatsayan. But  experts fix the time of Vatsyayan when Patana was famous as Pataliputra.Evidently, the commentator Vatsyayan of NyayaDarshan and exponent Vatsyayan of Kamasutra, are the same person. Some servants even assert that Vastsayan was the third name of Vishnugupt – the other two being Chanakya and Kautilya. Yashodhar, the commentator of Kamasutra has identified Vatsayan as Mallanaga. Hence, his original name appeared to be Malanaga, with a tile of Vatsyayan.OBJECTS OF HUMAN CREATIONLike all creatures, humans have also received certain rights and duties for a successful existence. Objects of comforts have also been provided. For a human being there are four objects for his existence. These are Dharma (religion), Arth (luxuries), Kama (carnal pleasures) and Moksha (salvation). Most people neither crave nor strive for all four. The first three – religion, luxuries and carnal pleasures are more important for them. Maharishi Vatsayana regards these three objects as the basic reason of existence. Everybody strives to achieve one or more of these objects with all his might. Shastras or disciplines help a person to achieve the object he deserves.NECESSITY OF KAMA SHASTRADespite enthusiasm, determination, faith and capacity, human beings fail to achieve their objectives for want of a competent guide. Kama or carnal pleasure is one of the main objects of the human existence. But without well-laid discourse and discipline, no one can achieve pleasure. Like other disciplines, Kama Shastra also contains certain norms and disciplined actions necessary to achieve one's goal.NECESSITY OF READING KAMASHASTRAIn addition to religion and earnings,  Kama or Carnal pleasures are the third goal of human life. Without proper knowledge of Kama, one cannot experience  other physical comforts. A married person is naturally inclined toward carnal pleasures. In other words, carnal pleasures constitute the basic reason for marriage.A man and a woman agree to tie a nuptial knot only to experience carnal pleasures. Marriage simply reflects a social nod for their union. But if two people entering marriage lack the basic knowledge about it, they will not be able to achieve the basic goal of marriage. It is here that the Kama Shastra comes in the picture. Evidence shows that Kama or Carnal union of male and female forces had not been taken for granted even in ancient times. Vedas, Puranas and other literature describe the authenticity, necessity and relevance of the Kama Shastra.Ancient sages composed the Kama Shastra on the basis of the Vedas. Maharshi Nandikeshwar was the first narrator of the Kama Shastra and divided it into various chapters. Apart from these, great sages like Dattakacharya, Charayana, Suvarn-nama Ghotakmukh, Gonardiya, Gonikaputra and Kuchumar also contributed their knowledge into  the evolution and refinement of Kama Shastra. Sage Vatsayan gave the finishing touch to the Kama Shastra.NECESSITY OF KAMASUTRA IN EDUCATIONThe Gurukula system of education was prevalent in ancient India. Abidance to celibacy was a must for the inmates of Gurukul. Kamasutra was taught to the celibate disciples during their stay at the  Gurukul. The disciples could enter married life only when he had a thorough knowledge of Kamasutra. Of course, the study of Kamasutra followed the study of the Vedas, Vedangas and other scriptures had been completed. Thus, by the time, the disciples left the Gurukul, they were experts in the Vedas and clever in social conduct. Their married life was expected to be free of problems and conflicts.

ABOUT KAMSUTRA

WHY WAS KAMASUTRA CREATED

At the beginning of the Kamasutra, Vatsyayan clearly says that the earlier matter on this delicate topic was available in pieces and the compilation if Babhrav was too huge to be understood by common people. Hence, he compiled this abridged version so that everybody could understand this subject comprehensively.

SUBSTANTIVE MATTER OF KAMASUTRA

A substantive collection of matterl has been covered in the first part of Kamasutra. This matter includes Dharma (religion), Arth (wealth) and Kama (Carnal pleasures). The first part also discusses the ways to achieve this substantive matter. The matter of Kamasutra also includes the time of studying Kamasutra, sixty-four postures, singing and playing instruments the agents of men and women folk proficient in this arts, and the partners in intercourse.

AUTHENTICITY OF KAMA SHASTRA

Maharshi Vatsyayan regards the Kamashastra as authentic as other religious scriptures. He says: ‘After creating the subjects, Lord Brahma first of all preached Trivarga (Dharma, Artha and Kama). Dharma or religion leads to fortune in this world and in the other. Arth or wealth helps a man to collect the means of comforts and live a religious life. With Kama or Carnal pleasure, a person makes his life happy. Moreover, without a woman and children, a man has no reputation in society.

Without abandoning Adharma, no one can achieve Dharma. Hence in the one lakh chapters of the Vedas, Brahmaji dictates the means of attaining Dharma, Arth and Kama. Later on, Manu separated and compiled the measures to attain Dharma, while Brihaspati separated and compiled the measures to attain Arth. Measures to attain Kama were separated and compiled by Nandi. These one thousand chapters that comprise the Kamasutra  were separated and compiled by Nandi, the vehicle of Lord Shiva, and were later on abridged to  five hundred chapters by Shvetketu, the son of Maharshi Uchhalaka. Later on, Panchal, the son of sage Vabhru (also referred to as Babhrav by the preceptor) reduced the five hundred chapters into one hundred and fifty.

KAMASUTRA IS NOT OBSCENE

Many accuse the Kamasutra of rendering the whole literature obscene. Refuting these accusations, it can be said that there are two ways of expressing anything – sober and slang. Intricate and intimate relations between a man and a woman will be said to be obscene if expressed in slang terms before noble ladies. In sober term s,however, this relationship will not appear obscene at all. A sober language presents even the most obscene subject in a decorous manner. Such a description does not induce shame. Instead, it incites the curiosity of the reader in a piquant way. Hence, it is a common belief among litterateurs that the infrequent use of words, which may appear obscene otherwise to describe a romantic scene, must not be mistaken with regularity. Such terms should be regard more as merit than demerit of literature. Moreover, currently films are the main carriers of spreading vulgarity.

While reading a book, one has to strain his mind as well as eyes. But to watch a movie, you have nothing to do except see. More than often after watching a movie, one is compelled to ask whether a censor board exists in India. Besides, there are so called educative films that cross all the boundaries of sobriety. Nonetheless, Kamasutra is such a substantive subject that it was  also presented as a feature film with few dissenters if any.

PARTS OF KAMASUTRA

There are seven parts in the Kamasutra. These are: 1) Sadharana (general), Samprayogik, 3) Kanya Samprayuktaka, 4) Bharya dhikarik, 5) Paridarik, 6) Vaishik and 7) Aapamshadik.

1) Sadharna (General): It is basically an introduction to the Kamasutra. It contains a brief discussion of all the other parts.

2) Samprayogik: It deals with the methodology of Kamasutra. All the matters related to intercourse have been discussed in this part. A knowledge of this part quenches beastly tendencies in a man desirous of intercourse.

3) Kanya Samprayuktak: This part describes the act of intercourse within marriage. Tradition and several types of Swayamvar have also been discussed.

4) Bharyadhikarik: This part describes how married women should behave with their husband, and how a married man should behave with his wife and children.

5) Pardarik: Unfortunately, even married women are not immune to the leers of other men. This part describes the ways man adopt in order to establish illicit connection with married women. This knowledge is a must for all married men because only they will be able to guard their wives.
6) Vaishik: Behaviour of prostitutes. This part expose the craftiness prostitutes apply to trap their customers. A proper knowledge of prostitutes behaviour will help gullible people to shun the company of such women.

7) Aupanishadik: This part contains beneficial discussion about mysterious topics. Measures to correct impotency have been discussed.

PURPOSE OF KAMASUTRA

ATTAINING THREE GOALS

Any religious scripture has four goals – achievement of Dharma (religion), Arth (Wealth) and Kama (pleasures) and Moksha (salvation) through them. There are three distinct stages in attaining these goals. These are Anushthan (undertaking). Avabodha (appreciation) and Sampratipatti (achievement). Anushthan includes the measures to achieve religion wealth and pleasures. Avabodhan (appreciation) is the real experience of a knowledge and Sampratipatti (achievement) is the mastering of an art. Among these three Anushthan (undertaking) is the most significant undertaking also means striving to achieve something. Indeed one can not achieve any thing merely by wishing for it. One has to convert his wish power into will power and strive to achieve something.

Maharshi Vatsayan dictates that a man of sound mind must divide his life time judiciously in order to practice religion, wealth and carnal pleasures. He should also take care that one does not infringe with or encroach upon the other.

During childhood years, all attention must be on education. One must long for carnal pleasures during his young age because during this period Om is physically and mentally fit to enjoy intimacy with the opposite sex. In old age, however one should devote himself in the service of religion and strive to achieve salvation. There is nothing to do for him either for he had already attained other goals.

APPEARANCE OF RELIGION

Religion has a metaphysical existence and its fruits are invisible. Yagya etc are the Karma that symbolize religion. But non-religion is physical and their fruit is visible. As per the scriptures, meat eating is a symbol of lack of religion.

There are various ways to attain religion through scriptures or in the guidance of polymaths.

APPEARANCE OF WEALTH

Wealth is the means of acquiring education, property, gold, cattle, cereals, clothes and ornaments etc. An increase in these materials through collection is also wealth. In any case, wealth is necessary to live a successful economic life.

APPEARANCE OF KAMA

The enjoyment of nature, while appreciating sound, sight, beauty, taste and smell through all the five sense organs and thus having a union of mind and soul is termed as Kama. There are two types of Kama-- General and Special.

Samanya Kama (General pleasure): When the soul wishes to have superficial pleasures related to sound, sight, smell etc., The resulting action is Samanya Kama. With the appearance of a wish, the mind comes into action and stimulates the related sense organs. Thus activated, the sense organs begin to seek the sources of pleasures. But since, the objective is to have superficial pleasure, the whole body does not get involved in the play, it simply enjoys pleasures through sight, sound, smell etc and the soul, hence the whole process feels satisfied.

VISHESH KAMA (TOTAL INVOLVEMENT)

One can have superficial pleasures alone. But to have Vishesh Kama, one needs a partner for the category of pleasure involves total involvement. In fact superficial pleasure itself lays the foundation for total involvement in pleasure. During superficial pleasure, the soul seeks more and more satisfaction. Sooner or later, a stage arrives, when the partners cross over all barriers between them and establish close intimate contact. At this stage they experience a marvelous feeling through the closest contact of the skin of their respective parts. This contact culminates in the highest degree of joy through the unabated release of their intimate feelings.

PURPOSE OF KAMASHASTRA

Mutual attraction between the male and female is a natural instinct among all animals, birds etc. It is even necessary for the contamination of life on earth. Thus what is essence of the Kamashastra? According to Vatsyayan, Kama cannot be completed without the active participation of the male and female partners. But before the two partners could actually participate in the pleasure play, they have miles to go. Almost in every creature, the acceptance of intercourse by the female partner, is more important. Males of almost all the species demonstrate elaborate rituals mating plays etc. to coax the female for intercourse.

Human beings are not exceptions to this rule. The  Kamashatra describes the ways of coaxing a woman for intercourse. Intimate contact with a woman is to two kinds – external and internal. External contact involves all the fondling, caressing, kissing etc. but no intercourse.

With increasing intimacy, external contact is converted into an internal one that is intercourse or actual mating during which no barrier exists between man and woman. But external contact does not necessarily lead to internal contact always. Desire plays the most vital role here.

PREVENTION OF UNJUST TENDENCY OF KAMA

Lord Krishna says in the Gita:
"Kama as per religion is an appearance of mine. Kama against religious norms is always catastrophic. One should therefore avoid such Kama or Carnal pleasure."

Kama or desire for Carnal pleasure is like an inextinguishable fire. Even the ascetics are not fully immune from this fire. The mind and sense organs are all means that manifest in Kama. Overpowering these organs, Kama covers up knowledge and allures the organism. Hence, Lord Krishna preaches in the Gita to conquer Kama and channelize it.

Exponents of Kama Shastra believe that only through proper knowledge of discipline can unjust tendencies be contained. With the awakening of Kama, one naturally begins to incline toward the opposite sex, Now, a housewife and a prostitute, both have common feelings about the carnal pleasure. Here, discipline clearly dictates the company of which partner will cause no harm to religion and wealth. Such a partner is known as Gamya (fit for coition). On the contrary, there are Agamya (not fit for coition) partners. Carnal relation with such partners always leads to loss in  religion and wealth. Kama Shastra clearly defines this category of Gamya and Agamya partners. Exponent of the Kamasutra, Maharshi Atsayan says-

RAKSHAN DHARMARTHKAMANAM STHITIMSVAM LOKAVARTINEEM| ASY SHASTRASY TATTVAGYOBHAVATYEV JITENDRIYAH||

Meaning: Those, who understand the spirit of the Kamasutra, defend their mundane position regarding religion, wealth and Kama. Apparently those who opt for Kama  and defend their religion and wealth  will automatically contain their unjust tendencies. Indeed, pious thoughts can contain the unjust tendencies of Kama. The Kamasutra plays the role of a mentor in developing these thoughts.

DHARM & ARTH NOT NEGLECTED

From the content of Kamasutra, it is clear that Kama must not be nurtured at the cost of religion and wealth. Instead it should be an adjunct to these two goals. Vatsayan also advocates carnal relations exclusively with a wife who hails from the same caste. But in the present times, this dictate doesn't appear relevant.

VATSAYAN: PROPONENT OF SALVATION

Some ignorant people accuse Vatsayan's thought to being  limited to physical achievements alone; and that Vatsayan  never  did champion the cause for Salvation. But this is not true, for Vatsayan says:

STHAVIRE DHARMAM MOKSHAM CHA, That is, in old age one must follow religion and strive for salvation.

THOSE WHO BENEFIT FROM KAMASUTRA

EDUCATION OF KAMASUTRA FOR GIRLS

Maharshi Vatsayan says that married women, wife of the brother, sister of the mother, old maid and elder sister are all the teachers to teach young girls in Kamasutra.

In Mahabharat, the king of Virat had appointed Vrihannala (Arjun in eunuch guise) to teach his daughter Uttara in the arts related to Kamasutra. But now a day feeling of motherhood is diminishing in the society. Bearing top priority of so called modern women. Sexual desires and their fulfillment come first for such so called modern women. How much will they be concerned about the future of their daughters, no one can say that. Hence, knowledge of Kamasutra is a must for women also. Only then they can teach their daughters to differentiate between constructive and destructive carnal desires. Such ability will surely save the young girls from the bad company. In the modern society, deadly sexual diseases like AIDS are lurking at every nook and corner. A reserved behaviour of young girls will certainly act as a shield against these hard to cure diseases.

TRAINING OF GIRLS IN KAMASUTRA

To teach the young girl the practical aspect of Kamasutra, total privacy in the first requisite. All the girls-irrespective of their intelligence level must at least learn the practical aspect of Kamsutra. There are in all, sixty-four different arts like singing, dancing, playing instruments etc. that comprise Kamasutra. Experienced maids, married friends, mothers, young sister etc. can be entrusted with the job of training young girls in Kamasutra.

NEED OF KAMASUTRA FOR WOMEN
It is imperative for a woman to gain substantial knowledge about Kamasutra before marriage. During childhood years a woman body is sufficiently flexible to learn the postures and all other arts related to Kamasutra. But in young age, they become too shy to respond to these postures. After marriage they are dependent on their husband, who expect that their wives would have enough training of Kamasutra. Because of their low level of receptivity, teaching a discipline to woman is forbidden. Hence it is useless to teach the woman about subtleties of Kamasutra. Only the practical aspect of it should be taught to them.

PROSTITUTES & WIDOWS

Kamasutra shows no objection over the company of prostitutes, nor puts only restrictions on this tendency. Many well to-do people seek the company of prostitutes. Kamasutra puts them both in the category of Nayika, pretty, young woman who is the centre of every one's attraction. But excess of everything is bad. Thanks to the company of prostitutes, even the wealthiest people lose their property; and even the greatest braves fall prey to inertia. In the present age, when the danger of deadly AIDS looms large, ignorant people seek the company of prostitutes and acquire host of deadly diseases. These people, in turn, transfer these diseases to their wives. And if the wife conceives the children are sure to have AIDS since birth. As all of us know, AIDS is an incurable disease, knowledge of Kamasutra may be sure way to combat this evil.

AVOID UNRELATED WOMEN

By unrelated women, it means here women other than your wife. Reproduction and hence continuation of the family is the basic object of copulation. Copulation with just any woman may give you a son (or an offspring). But the offspring you get by copulating with your wife will be truly yours. He or she will bear your name and receive respect and acceptance in the society. On the other hand, offspring produced through extramarital affair will bear the name of some one's else. Scriptures abound in the examples of such people, who had blind desire for unrelated women' and the fate they met ultimately. True gentlemen are not allured by the beauty of unrelated women. Desire for unrelated women is thus a social evil, which everyone must fight against. Maharshi had cited the examples of Keechaka and Ravana to show the faults of unjust desires for unrelated women.

DESCRIPTION OF PARTNERS

Physical intimacy and sexual relation comprise the most delicate part of all the human relations. In the words of well-known author, love seems to be the fastest thing, but it is the slowest thing to grow. Nonetheless, millions of people unite every year with the opposite sex. Some of these partnerships last life long. This section describes the kinds of the partners and their agents who assist them in contacting with each other and establish physical relations.

CATEGORIES OF MALE AND FEMALE PARTNERS

According to the size and depth of their private organs male and female partners have been put in three categories. These are Shash (rabbit), Vrish (bull) and Ashva (horse) for the males and Mrigi (doe), Badava (cow) and Hastini (she-elephant) for the females.

Shashak (rabbit) males have a small phallus, Vrish (bull) males have normal size phallus. While Ashva (horse) males have extremely large phallus. Mrigi (doe) females have extremely small cunt. Badava (cow females have normal sized cunt, while Hastini (she-elephant) females have extemely large cunt. A union of Shashak (rabbit) male with Mrigi (doe) female, of Vrishu (bull) male with Badava (cow) female and Ashva (horse) male with Hastini (she-elephant) female is well matched because the sizes of their private parts are equal to one another. There are six kinds of unmatched union between these types of partners, viz. Union of Shashak (rabbit) male with Hastini (she-elephant) or Badva (cow) females, union of Vrish (bull) male with Mrigi (doe) or Hastini (she-elephant) females and the union of Ashva (horse) male with Mrigi (doe) or Badava (cow) female.

KINDS OF FEMALE PARTNERS

Female partners are the young woman who are the centre of everyone's attraction. There are mainly three kinds of female partners. These are 1) Spinsters, 2) Remarried widows and 3) Prostitutes. Spinsters constitute the supreme category, remarried widows are mediocre, while prostitutes form the lowest category. On the basis of their body built, female partners have been classified into Hastine (elephant-like) Padmini (lotuslike) etc. According to their social status, Acharya Vatsyayan has recognized four categories of female partners – spinsters, remarried women forced to have relation with men other than husband. Often eunuchs are also recognized as the fifth category of the female partners.

GENTLEMAN

Who is a gentleman? Any educated person may be a gentleman. But without having a legitimate wife, even an educated man can't be gentleman. And after marriage, life cannot run without money. But no one gets money without efforts. Hence, marriage and taking up some economic occupation are necessary to be a civilized man. A civilized man must also make his residence at an excellent inhabitation, which is managed well. There must be a water near the inhabitation and general environment must be as clean and pure as possible. There must be two portions in a gentleman's house – one for storing necessary provisions and other for sleeping. Further additions in the house must follow the principles of Vastu Shastra. His bedroom must have a comfortable bedstead with soft cushions and white sheets. There must be all the cosmetics handy in the bedroom. Apart from these musical instruments, music system posters of natural scenes and love scenes of couples must decorate the bedroom. The house must also have a swing, a lawn and a kitchen garden.

The inner portion of the house must be used by the woman. It should have a bedstead with soft cushion. There must also be a smaller but comfortable bed nearby for lovemaking. The owner of the house must enjoy physical intimacy with his wife on this smaller bed. Light snacks and drinks must also be handy in this room.

After a hard day work daily, evening of a gentle must start with music. Guests may also visit him at him time or conversely the gentleman may visit some one else as a guest himself.

WOMEN NOT FIT FOR COITION

Among all the four types of above-mentioned female partners, there are women not fit for coition. These are lepers, insane, corrupt, characterless and backbiters. Apart from them women who want full lighting during coition, who stint, who are past their prime, extremely fair-complexioned are also not fit for coition. Women having Electra complex must be shun in any case. Ultimately one must not strive to establish physical relations with an ascetic woman, friend of the wife, wife of the friend, teacher and the wife of the king.

TABOOS IN PHYSICAL REALTIONS

Of course there is a strong drive of attraction among the members of opposite sexes. This drive urges human beings to establish close physical contact with the opposite sex. But it won't be wise to have a physical relation with just anybody. There are certain taboos to give this behaviour a direction. According, one should avoid physical relation with the woman belonging to very high class or to a very low class. One should not long for a relation with a woman married to someone other. One should not have a relation with a woman of the same caste but who has been boycotted by the society. Such relations almost always lead to the fall.

PRACTICAL ASPECTS OF KAMASUTRA

Practical aspect of Kamasutra has two divisions – One deals with Tantra and second deals with the Asanas or postures. Thus, it is the main part of Kamasutra. Union of male and female forced has been a continuing process since the beginning of the creation. And it will continue as long as life exists on the earth. As there are innumerable forms of life, there are innumerable ways through which female and male forces can unite. Maharshi Vatsyayan has elaborated and refined the ways of unification of human male and female forces. These refined ways constitute the main body of Kamasutra.

TANTRA & AVAP

Basically, Kamasutra is of two types – Tantra and Avap. Fondling and embracing that act as sexual stimulant are known as Tantra. Samprayogik part elaborately teaches these arts hence it is itself known as Tantra.

Avap comprises the measures to attract the lover or beloved one. These measures have been elaborately discussed in the third, fourth and fifth and sixth parts of Kamasutra. These parts therefore are themselves known as Avap.

FAULTS OF KAMA & THEIR REMOVAL

Acharya Vatsyayan cautions the people that Kama or Sexual pleasure must not come first for anybody. By nature it is an opponent of religion and wealth. Those, who give top priority to the sexual pleasures almost always fall in the bad company, bad occupation, impurity and many other evils. Controlled by sexual desires, uncountable people have been destroyed. History abounds in such examples. Dandal met a tragic and because of his liking for a Brahmins daughter. Indra was destroyed for defiling the chastity of Ahilya. Keechak was killed by Bheem, because he had wanted to have an illicit connection with Draupadi. And even Ravana, who had conquered Yama, ultimately fell before the bows of Shri Rama because he had leered Sita. All these examples show the fate of such people who gave top priority to their sexual desires.

REMOVAL OF FAULTS

Just as food is necessary to sustain the body, similarly religion and wealth are necessary to maintain a healthy sexual behaviour. Though Kama or sexual pleasure disinclines one from religion, yet it is necessary for a healthy existence. Unquenched sexual desires give rise to mental disturbances. These disturbances ultimately cause the death of the body.

One trains religion and collects wealth for the comforts. If, after training these two, one does not long for carnal pleasures, what is the use of all these fussy they both will be futile. It is said that Dharm or religion assures a place in heaven. But it cannot be trained without a woman. Only women give birth of ones' children. And only with children one can carry out his earthly duties well.

Even if Kama is with fault, it makes no difference. Faults are inherent to humans. Even bodily functions develop faults frequently. Such as for example, indigestion. But it does not mean that one gives up eating forever. Only as long as indigestion continues one avoids a meal. Recovering from the fault, one resumes his normal course. Sexual behaviour is most complex among all the human behaviours. Faults are but natural to arise in sexual behaviour. But it does not mean that one should always shun sex. Those, who hate sex, simply waste their lives. Hence Vatsyayan opines that one should always guard himself against the faults related to sexual conduct, but he should enjoy it legitimately.

Those who attain all the three goals – religion, wealth and sexual pleasure, have no regret at the end. On the contrary those who fail to attain either of these three goals keep on regretting till last. Sexual desires are very hard to suppress. These do not leave one even on the death bed. Such a person feels himself as a great unfortunate one. That is why Acharya Vatsyayan has exposited the ritual of Kama so that every physically and mentally healthy person could channelise and quench his sexual desires.

REASONS FOR INTERCOURSE

Desire is the first reason for an intercourse. Both the partners must have a desire first, only then each of them would allow a closer contact to the other. After desire, access to the partner is the second reason. Scores of barriers exist between a man and a woman. In the present discussion, it is presumed that both the partners have free access to each other. Besides it is not a purpose of Kamasutra to discuss about the ways how to remove the social barriers that keep a man and a woman apart.

PREPARATIONS BEFORE COITION

Man and woman are the two distinct bodily representations of male and female forces. Their unification marks the beginning of creations. Life is the supreme miracle of nature. It is begotten only when male and female forces unite through the bodies of a man and a woman. There are special organs in the bodies of the man and woman to channelise this unification. But before these organs could unite, they must experience proper degree of urge. Intense love is the first pre-requisite to generate this urge.

USE OF FORE PLAYS

Presume that the lovers have free access to each other and have complete privacy. Even in such an ideal situation their love will not jump to its conclusion. It cannot. Kamasutra describes Sixty-four ways how to take your love to a successful culmination. These sixty-four ways constitute the fore-plays that precede actual lovemaking. These fore plays exist as a natural instinct among the animals – in view of the survival of the fittest. But human beings have learned them. In humans,. The male partners cared for the pleasure of the female partners and vice-versa. Such dedication is required to ensure loyality also. Hence knowledge of Kamashastra is must for all. Promiscuity leads to fall in religion, reputation and wealth of a householder.

ARTS OF KAMASUTRA

FORE - PLAYS

1) Embracing: Embracing or clasping removes the physical distances between the partners. Embracing can be of two kinds depending on whether the partners know each other previously or are unknown to each other. Between the partners, who already know each other, embracing is full of drive. Between the partners who are unknown to each other, embracing removes the physical distance and establishes closeness.

There are four distinct stages in the process of embracing. These are touching, pulling, rubbing and pressing hard. First the partners touch each other lovingly while talking. Next they are drawn closer. Any partner may pull the other. Once their bodies come in close contact, the partners caress and stroke each other. Even their bodies begin to rub against each other. Finally as the urge grows stronger, the partners begin to press hard against each other in preparation to an intercourse. Exponents of Kamasutra advise that at this stage the partners must make full use of the things not mentioned anywhere but helping to increase the intensity of love.

Kissing: Kissing may accompany embracing or follow it. It is used prominently before the actual coition to increase the intensity of love. On the female body, there are eleven points sensitive to kissing. These are forehead, cheeks, eyes, bust, breasts, lips, and palate inside the mouth. Besides these some people have no hesitation is kissing even the lips of the cunt, and around it, armpits and jovelings. Exponents of Kamasutra advise that a particular kind of kiss must be reciprocated fittingly.

2) Piercing with Nails: Kissing kindles the fire of love, while piercing with nails acts likes fuel to keep this fire burning. Nails however should be used only when the partners has attained a particular degree of excitement. Those, who lack intensity in their love, don't use nails to excite their partners. Nails are used like kissing on armpits, breasts, neck, back, thighs, groin etc. But care must be taken not to inflict long lasting marks. Nails marks on the hidden parts remind the person of the first love even long after his or her partner has parted with.

3) Biting: Biting either accompanies of follows the piercing with nails. It only adds to the heat of the love. All the kissing points except upper lip, tongue and eyes are suitable for biting provided that your partner has no objection. Biting must be done in such a way that it does not leave a permanent mark, Neck, armpits and thighs are the ideal places for biting. Some experts regard biting at the breast as most exciting.

SIXTY-FOUR ARTS OF KAMASUTRA

According to Vatsyayan, there are Sixty four arts in Kamasutra. These are: singing, dancing, playing instruments, knowledge of foreign languages speaking generously speaking beautifully painting, calligraphy, making garlands, cooking delicious foods, making floral bouquets, ability to distinguish between true and false gems, sewing colour-making and dying, making proper estimates of the cooking materials honouring others, saving money, treating birds and animals, ability to judge craftiness and reply accordingly, proficiency in plays behaving suitably with others, prudence, keeping the body neat and clean, braiding of hair and dying them with heena.

These are all general arts that prepare a girl to be a good wife. In practical aspect that is when physical intimacy is achieved, there are sixteen arts that a young girl must learn before opening herself before her husband. These are – reading others thoughts, expression of love on others, showing acceptance through bodily postures, allowing slow touching of her parts, scrating lovingly with nails and biting, undoing the fastener of the lower clothe straightening and exposing the private part, artful participation in the intercourse, pleasing the partner, feeling full satisfaction and making the partner to have similar feeling, encouraging the partner for intercourse, posing as if angry, removal of anger in a playful way, pleasing the angry partner, leaving the sleeping partner, going to sleep after the coition and concealing the private parts. Apart from these there are four more additional arts inducing guilt, in the partner through tearful eyes for his showing negligence to you, stopping an uninterested partner through sending down oath on him, following him if the partner does not stop and looking helplessly at the going partner.
BENEFITS OF THESE ARTS

Learning of these arts enhances the beauty, character and virtues of a woman, Through these arts, prostitutes gain respect in the society. They get honour from the king praise from he connoisseurs and gain every kind of wealth. Princesses and the daughters of noblemen may control their husbands through these arts. Even those women whose husbands have migrated out and even widows may pass their lives without trouble if the have mastered these arts.

PRESENTATION OF POSTURE NOT VULGAR

Kamasutra describes Sixty-four postures through which a man and a woman can establish physical contact. These postures are beneficial to both of them. Ancient as well as modern poets have described these postures in their distinct styles. Almost all the authorities on Kamasutra agree that a couple must adopt such a posture that is helpful in conceiving, and not one that may lead to abortion. This dictate complies well to the basic objective of physical intimacy. Joy is the first objective of physical intimacy. If a couple fails to enjoy this intimacy, there is no meaning of sex then. There might be many reasons for a couple not enjoying physical intimacies.

Imbalance between the physical stature of the partners is the main reason. If both the partners are well matched in their physical built and age, there is no problem in establishing, and running smoothly, a physical contact. But if they are not well matched, either of them may feel pain during the intercourse. Postures in this case, tell the unmatched partners how to establish intimacy contacts and how to enjoy them. Postures of Kamasutra constitute the theme of bas-relief in many temples of ancient India. Temples in Khajuraho, Konark and many other places in India contain scores of figures that depict postures from Kamasutra. Those figures, of course would have not been chiseled with an objective of propagating vulgarity. Those figures depict the vital states of life – processes that beget life.

ACTIONS OF MAN

Undressing the partner: A man must begin to undress his female partner right during the foreplay and sweet-talking. Undressing begins with undoing of the fastener. The female partner will naturally protest against this action. But this protest is superficial only and dies out after a few kisses. Thus, slowly undressing the female partner, a man must also show his readiness, while touching and stroking his partner at sensitive spots like armpits, groin and breasts. Such actions surely kindle the fire of love in the female partner and she readily dedicates herself before the desire of the man.

First intercourse: A proverb says: The first impression is the last impression. For many it is true word by word. But for most of the people, it can be modified as; the first impression is the lasting impression. Hence, behaviour of both the partners has a lasting impression on the other. ‘Have patience' may be the best advice to such partners who are going to have their first carnal experience.

The male partner should slowly begin to excite the female by gently stroking her thighs and groin area. The female will respond to these actions by opening up her posture. If the female has never had a close contact with the male, winning over her confidence is crucial.

Gentle talking is the best way to win the confidence of such a woman. It should be followed by gentle caressing, stroking, fondling etc. of her sensitive parts so that the female acquires an open posture. It is also the high time to start undressing the female partner. Intercourse is a bizarre experience for a virgin woman. She doesn't know how to express her excitement and sentiments. Hence, a prudent male must be watchful of her postures and natural responses. During the first intercourse, a woman leaves her body loose, closes her eyes, and rubs her thighs against those of the male ultimately dropping her shyness. A watchful man understands these signals and responds accordingly.

COITION OR INTERCOURSE

At the height of excitement, the male and the female partners are ready to cross all the barriers and enter into each other. This moment marks the beginning of coition or intercourse. To have an intercourse effectively, the partners now need favourable postures. Some of the most prevalent and easiest postures have been described here.

1) Mrigi (Doe posture): This is regarded as the most civilized posture. Such a coy doe spreads both her hind legs to facilitate the entry of the male; similarly a woman with small cunt spreads her legs apart. In this posture, phallus of even horse-type of male can have an easy entry.

2) Hastini Asana (She-elephant posture): This posture is adopted by Hastini (She –elephant) types of females, who have a large cunt. If the male partner is small (rabbit type or bull type), such a woman should cuddle herself up to the size of her partner.

3) Samarati (Equal matched): If the male and female partners are well matched as per the size of their bodies, they may stretch their bodies naturally for maximum enjoyment.

4) Badava Asan (cow posture): This posture is adopted by the females of normal stature. If a cow-type female is having an intercourse with Ashva (horse) type male, she must spread her legs as far apart as possible to facilitate the entry of a large phallus. If she is being mated by Shashak (rabbit) type male, she should contract her body to the size of her partner. If the partner is bull type, they may spread and stretch their bodies normally to enjoy union. But in either case, the female partner must allow the entry of the male organ only when her organ has achieved enough lubrication through the secretion of fluid.

5) Supine: Lying down supine on the bed is a facilitating posture for the females to enjoy an intercourse. In such posture, folding the knees and raising the thighs up while spreading both the legs apart facilitates an easy entry. In this posture, even a doe type female can have an easy entry of even a horse-type male.

6) Samputak: Both male and female partners spread their legs straight during mating. This posture is useful when both the partners are well matched.

7) Piritak: Hitting of groin with the genital organ. This leads to tremendous excitement in both the partners.

8) Vadava: Contraction and tightening of the female genital organ. With this posture, a she-elephant type of female can please even a rabbit-type of male who feels an extraordinary enlargement in his organ. Andhra women particularly adopt this posture.

9) Bhugnak: Female- lying supine folds her legs at the knees and raises the thighs, but does not spread the legs apart. Instead she rests her knees against the chest of her mate who then enters the female in half-sitting position.

10) Jrimbhitak: The female raises her legs and puts them on the shoulders of the male. The male also takes a sitting posture with his knees up to the level of his partner's shoulders. Such posture result in the contraction of the female genital organ.

11) Utpiritaka: Folding her legs, the female rests them against the chest of her partner. The male spreads his around the shoulders of the female. All through the mating, legs of the female support on the male's chest. Such a posture causes peculiar thumping sensation in the hearts of both the partners.

12) Piritak: Female takes a crossed- legged posture and raises her thighs to expose her genitals. Such posture constricts the female genitalia and makes the entry painful.

13) Padmasana: The female takes Padmasana while lying supine and raises her thighs without undoing the Asana. The male reaches his hands through the folds of her legs and holds her shoulders in order to mount on her.

14) Imitation of Animals: Every animal has a particular way of mating. Human beings observe those postures of the animals and adopt them in mating rituals. Cow, buffalo, dogs, horses, goats, sheep are some tamed animals that breed in the human presence. Humans are also aware of the postures wild animals adopt for mating. Time and again, humans imitate these postures in their mating behaviour. Such postures add to the novelty of the process and joy, provided that they do not cause any pain to the female partner.

ORGASM

Thus, prepared with various postures for an intercourse, the female ascends to the peak of orgasm. Having orgasm is the basic right of both the male and female partners. Sibilating and hitting express the orgasm.

HITTING AND SIBILATING

Hitting the partners and simultaneously releasing sibilating sounds are the explicit ways of showing the state of orgasm. Males and particularly females hit their partners at the hand, shoulders, chest, thighs and sides of the body with fists, palms and fingers.

Causes of Sibilation: Sibilation accompanies hitting and is a way to give excitement produced by hitting a vent. All kinds of sounds- hissing, sighing, etc. are produced during sibilation. Some meaningful words are also spoken like, stop it… its enough…its killing me… O God…leave me…Experts say that actually these words mean exactly the opposite. At the end of the process, both the partners feel joyful fatigue. No sound, except of heavy breathing can be heard then. In the opinion of Vatsyayan, hitting the partner during intercourse is a cruel exercise; hence it should be avoided.

Role Reversal: At the end of the process, more than often the partners exchange their roles. The main reason for this behaviour is to provide relief to the tired partner, particularly male and to rekindle his enthusiasm in the process. In the reversal of roles, obviously, the female partner plays the male role and vice versa. It is not necessary also that role reversal should be taken at the end of the process. It can be adopted for a change as a different experience for the main part of the coition. In the reversal of role, female mounts over the male and their genitals unite as usual. Experts say that when the role reversal is desired, the female must behave like male from the very beginning. She must take initiative, must start touching, embracing, kissing and all other foreplay first.

THE HEIGHT OF EXCITEMENT

Shivering of hands is the first symptom that shows that the woman has reached the height of excitement. At this stage, she shows deep love and doesn't allow her partner to withdraw even when the male has ejaculated. All males must be watchful of this symptom and see that they do not begin the intercourse first. They must wait for the moment when their female partner has achieved proper lubrication of her genitals and has acquired an open posture by leaving her body loose. There are certain manual ways to reach a woman to the height of excitement. Fondling of female genitalia with skillful use of fingers is the most certain way. Many males use artificial look alike to excite their partner. Some males force their partner to have oral sex. But scriptures strictly forbid such kind of practice. They say that during intercourse, mouth of a woman is extremely holy thing. Hence, it should not be defiled by oral sex.

Beginning and end of intercourse: Intercourse is highly sensitive thing to be enjoyed in total isolation. That is why, much significance is associated with the nuptial night and nuptial chamber. Ambience of nuptial chamber is decorated in such a way that it reflects the very mood of the occupants. It has a well-made bedstead having soft cushions, decorated with scented flowers. Air of the room is also perfumed with incense sticks. The woman is given a bath prior to sending into the room. Her body is anointed with scented oils. At some places, the woman is given mild intoxicating drink.

The male partner makes more or less similar preparations. Upon entering the room, he should occupy a place at the right hand side of the female. He should begin with stroking the hair of the bride while talking gently to her. Then he should caress her hands and hold them. At this stage, both of them may enjoy a mild intoxicating drink to do away with their shyness. The male must slowly reach his hands under the clothes of his partner and grope for the fastener. All other things like embracing, kissing, fondling, undressing and finally intercourse follow usually.

After the intercourse is over, the partners should not part with each other immediately. They must feel their presence within each other for some more time. This practice helps to attain proper intimacy between the partners. Even after separation, the partners must sit together, talk lovingly and take delicious but nutritious food and drink.

MARRIAGE

Reasons for Marriage: Marriage is a social custom that has been playing a unifying role between the cultures since antiquity. Marriage lays the foundation for a family. Hence, selection of girls for marriage purpose must be done cautiously and carefully. Acharya Vatsyayan dictates that a girl obtained from the same caste, community or class with religious ways proves helpful in attaining Dharma (religion), Artha (wealth) and Kama (pleasures). Children begotten by such a lady gain acceptance and respect in the society.

Suitable Girl: A girl of noble ancestry and three or more years younger than the boy is suitable by all means for the marriage. Sweet conduct, attractive figure, beauty, character and good family background are other things that count in the selection of a suitable girl. She must have a well- balanced proportion among her body parts like hair, teeth, nails, eyes etc. She must not be afflicted with any serious diseases.

Girls who doze or cry loudly during the marriage rituals, or run away from the house, whose names do not sound good, girls who are deliberately concealed before the actual time of marriage are not at all suitable for marriage.

Consideration of Relation: Even if you have found suitable girl to marry with, consideration of her relations is very important. It is said that, friendship lasts with people of equal standard. This logic also applies well to the marriage because marriage is a life-long friendship. One should therefore strive to select a girl from his similar status. Even if he has got a girl from the high society, he should bring her to his own home after marriage and should not agree to stay with his in-laws in any case.

Coaxing of the girl: Even after marriage, the groom cannot enjoy physical intimacy with the bride without winning her confidence. This chapter describes the ways to win the confidence of the newly wed bride.

Abidance to celibacy for three nights: The bride and groom must follow celibacy for three days after the marriage. During this period, they should sleep separately on the floor, take plain food without salt or sour. Thereafter they should take bath, adorn themselves with ornaments, watch games and treat the guests.

Girl fit for coition: To decide this point, one should pay attention to three things. 1) Age of the girl. 2) Development of her body and 3) Her monthly periods. Exponents of Kamasutra advocate marriage of a twelve years old girl with a twenty-five years old boy. They also say that intercourse of a sixteen years old girl by twenty years old boy produces a healthy baby. Those who have nothing to do with education may marry well before attaining an age of twenty. Experts advocate that a girl can be mated with immediately after her first menses. If the body of a girl is healthy and sound, there is no harm in intercourse at an age of twelve, experts say.

In the present modern age, population explosion has taken the magnitude of the crisis. Hence, one should follow the guidelines of his country's constitution regarding marriage. Similarly, if one intends to have healthy children, he should not opt for young girls for marriage. In India, the constitution fixes twenty-one years for boys and eighteen years for girls as the marriage age. Medical experts also agree at these ages. But in big cities, people usually get married in advance age.

GANDHARVA VIVAH (Love Marriage): Marriages are made in heaven but there are innumerable hurdles in their way on earth. First of all, it is the parents of the girl who put the greatest hurdle. Despite knowing that it is virtually impossible to get a cent percent groom, they continue to chase a ‘wild goose' for their daughter. In their efforts, such parents miss scores of suitable boys who could be well-matched grooms for their daughters. If the girl wishes, love marriage could be a good way out for her. Similarly, there are lot of barriers in the marriage of poor but deserving boy. A rich but dependent boy likewise faces many hurdles in his marriage. In all these situations, love marriage is the best option.

Love Marriage better than abduction: Love marriage is the best option for those poor but deserving people who are being denied of marriage. Such people don't need to venture far and wide in search of a bride. They may find one in their neighbourhood provided that they have a vision. Almost, everywhere on earth, whether in big cities or in a small village, there are girls who aspire someone in their vicinity. But the parents of such girls have serious objection over the relation of their daughters with someone they dislike. However, if the girl is ready and the boy is sure of his capacity to feed his family, love marriage is the best way out for them. There is literally no harm if the girl herself selects a groom for her.

CONDUCT OF MARRIED WOMAN: After marriage, a young girl has to sacrifice most of her liberties in favour of her husband. Traditionally, two kinds of married women have been recognized: The sole wife and one of the harems.

First of all, a married woman must win the confidence of her husband. She should strive to keep her husband free from worries and take charge of internal and external arrangements. She should control the expenses also. Keeping the house clean, worshipping in the temple of the house at right time, proper regard for the in-laws etc. are also the duties of a married woman.
If there is proper space around the house, the married woman must take interest to develop a kitchen garden and a lawn on this space and maintain them. She should not accompany the wretched women. She should cook the food, which her husband likes most. She should also serve her husband herself more and more rather than asking the servants to do so. She should check the squandering husband wisely. She should not attend social functions without her husband's permission. She should retire every night to bed after her husband but wake up earlier.

When the husband is angry, she should not tempt to argue with him. She should maintain proper secrecy regarding the wealth and private things of the family. She should welcome and treat her husband's friends properly. When the husband is setting out for a long journey, she should wear only those insignia that show good fortune. During all the period of her husband's migration, a married woman must live a plain life under the supervision of her mother and father-in-law.

CONDUCT OF A WOMAN IN A HAREM

Even in the modern age, there are people who keep a harem. At some places, this practice has even religious acceptance. Islam is one such modern religion that permits a man to keep a harem. There are many reasons for a man to keep many wives. Foolishness, characterless-ness, no children, birth of female children repeatedly or mere fickle mindedness of the male are a few important reasons. But regardless of reasons, the first wife, who had come to live with that man with high hopes, feels dejected. Such a woman must behave carefully not only with her husband but also with his other wives as well. If she had been accused of being characterless, she must act with high moral to wash this blame cleverly. Similarly, she must try to do away with the fickle mindedness of her husband. If she is infertile, she must herself request her husband to make second marriage. Such behaviour will maintain her honour. In such case, the first wife must treat the second one as her sister. She should show more love for the sons of the second wife.

CONDUCT OF THE SECOND WIFE

The second wife should regard the first one as her mother. She must share all her dowry with the first wife and use them only with her permission. She should share all her secrets with the first wife and seek her permission for sleeping with the husband. She should also guard the secrets of the first wife. She must show more love for children of the first wife. While having privacy with the husband, she must serve him dedicatedly. She must not show her superiority to the other wives even if she manages to get more love from her husband. If the first wife is not so fortunate or infertile, she must show kindness for her and beg her husband to follow suit.

REMARRIED WIDOWS: There are two categories of remarried widows. 1) Those who have experienced intercourse and 2) Those who have not had an intercourse. Women belonging to the second category are equal to the virgin girls. Hence, they deserve remarriage with proper rituals. Women belonging to the first category can be accepted as wives without proper rituals. In a society such women are designated as concubines. Their behaviour is primarily driven by sexual desires. In many societies, widows are remarried to the younger brother of their husband provided that he is unmarried. Such marriage ensures stability in the life of the widow. For the widows, who have no such option before them, Acharya Vatsyayan dictates that they should occupy the house of a well to do man who doesn't have many liabilities. If unsatisfied, she may change her husband but in any case, she must behave affectionately with the family members of the man. Such a widow can use her sexual skills to please the man of her choice.

UNFORTUNATE WOMEN: There are women who have to share their husband with other women. As such, she has to tolerate repeated insults, not only from her husband but also from co-wives. Such a woman must try to develop intimacy with the woman who is most beloved to her husband. She must also serve the children of her husband like a maid. She should try to win the favour of her husband's friends and show them, her loyalty for the husband. Whenever such a woman gets a chance to enjoy intimacy with the husband, she must behave like an efficient prostitute. If her husband loves a woman outside his marriage, she must facilitate their meeting.

NEED OF MEDICINES AND EXTERNAL HELP

Sound mental and physical health is the foremost necessity in establishing an intimate contact. A satisfactory physical relation between husband and wife is, in fact, the basis of the happy married life. Medicines are therefore required to remove physical ailments. Sages have developed certain postures along with many Ayurvedic preparations to correct common physical ailments that lead to impotency among males and frigidness among females.
Lack of love and understanding between the husband and wife is the most common mental problem that haunts most of the couples. Without love, no physical contact can bear fruits no matter how intimate it could be. Hence, mutual love and understanding is also necessary to achieve peace in married life. Here, spiritual measures come in the picture. Hence, the originator of Kamasutra also discusses certain metaphysical ways to treat the problem that cannot be solved with physical postures.
USEFUL FORMULATIONS
Kamasutra is not simply an assemblage of erotic postures. It deals with the subtleties of human sexual behaviour. Topics discussed so far cover the ways to win the confidence of a woman and coaxing her into a sexual union. There are occasions, when a man fails to excite his female partner up to a certain degree of readiness. There are cases also when despite proper excitement; a man fails to satisfy his partner. In the eye of Kamasutra, all these instances are an abnormality. Kamasutra contains scores of formulas to treat these cases.
Beautification formulas: Beauty is the first thing that attracts the members of the opposite sex. It is the major area of modern cosmetics industry. It has not remained untouched by Kamasutra as well. Kamasutra contains scores of formulas that enhance beauty and radiance of the skin. These formulas can be prepared from the things easily available in a common household like barley, mustard, jaggery, honey, butter, milk, cream, Bengal gram and its flour, turmeric, sesame, olive oil and other spices. Certain specific herbs have also been mentioned in Kamasutra but unfortunately, their supply from the wild is continuously dwindling. Kamasutra also describes about the beautifying uses of our common neighbourhood trees like Neem, Amaltas, lemon, pomegranate, sandal, basil, myrobolan, arjun etc.

Formulas to allure a woman: These formulas are basically meant for exciting a woman during the intercourse to such an extent that she no longer desires for the company of other males. One such formula says that paste of all the parts- flower, fruit, leaves and root of deadly night-shade plant, along with pepper and long-pepper in honey acts as a powerful aphrodisiac. This paste is smeared on the phallus two hours before the actual intercourse and wiped out clean just before the intercourse. The woman experiences extreme excitement during such intercourse.
Formulas to enhance physical capacity: Every man has a fear during intercourse, lest he should ejaculate earlier without making the woman experience an orgasm. Most of the people blame their physical incompatibility for this condition. But it is more psychological than physical in origin. It is a common experience that when a process is performed repeatedly, the body fine-tunes itself to the requirement of the process. Intercourse is no exception to this rule. Usually, the retention power of men increases with practice. There are however formulas known to increase the retention power. Some of them, which use commonly available things, have been discussed here.
Licorice: Take ten grams licorice powder and mix it with ghee and honey taken in uneven proportion (ghee and honey in even proportion or equal parts are highly poisonous, so these are taken in uneven proportion). Take this paste with hot milk for 21 days to enhance your retention power.
Testis of goat and ram: If you are non-vegetarian, this recipe can be panacea for you. Cook the testes of a goat and ram in milk either separately or together. Add sugar to this milk and drink it. It tremendously enhances your retention power. This recipe should be tried for at least 21 days.
Alternatively, you may fry the testis, cooked in milk, in pure ghee and consume them with the fruit of peepal and salt. You will acquire capacity to mate with many women at a time.
Soak the powder of Amla (Indian gooseberry) in the juice of fresh Amla fruit and dry it in shade. Repeat the process for 51 times. Take this powder with honey and drink milk over it. It will greatly enhance your vitality.
Prepare a decoction of the fruit, bud, root bark and trunk bark of peepal tree in milk and add mishri (sugar candy) and drink it.

Ways to please extremely sexy women: If the woman is extremely sexy, has large genital and can endure the process for long, it is very difficult to please her with a brief intercourse. Experts suggest two ways to deal with such women. First, to increase own retention power and secondly to make a firm determination that he is going to ejaculate only after his partner has achieved orgasm. Experts also suggest of manual ways to excite such a woman. They say genitals of such a woman must be fondled with fingers so that she reaches an orgasm earlier. Once, she has reached orgasm, retention just looses it's significance as the main purpose is served.
Formulas to make a woman reach orgasm also include use of certain herbs and medicinal plants. Some of them have been discussed here.
Mix powder of bitter-gourd with honey and smear the genital of a woman with it. She will ejaculate in no time.
Paste of tamarind with jaggery smeared on a woman's genitals serves the same purpose. Paste of jaggery with honey is also effective.
Formula to attain greater retention: It is also better to attain greater retention than making a woman ejaculate first.
Mix the milk of goat, she-camel and cow together and massage the sole of your feet with this mixture. You will achieve far greater retention.
Ways to enhance the size of the phallus: Kamasutra contains scores of formulas that claim to increase the size of the phallus. But almost all of them contain highly poisonous things like mercury, borax, and harmful ingredients obtained from organic sources. Besides these formulations should be used under the supervision of an expert Vaidya (doctor).
Ways to constrict vagina after childbirth: Birth of a child brings tremendous joy in the family. But it also leaves the vagina in a placid expended condition, which is very much unexciting for a man. Kamasutra contains many formulas using which vagina can regain its original constricted condition.
Mix rock salt, cotton leaves, turmeric and seeds of berry together into powder form. Mix this powder with honey and smear it on the vaginal walls.
Crush a whole lotus flower along with its stalk and roll the paste into small balls. Put these balls, one at a time for sometime, into the vagina. It will constrict superbly.
Note: There are many formulas that serve similar purpose but need expert advice.
Hair-removing formulas: Pubes around female genitalia appear very irritating to some men. Scores of creams, lotions etc, are available in the market to remove the pubic hair but all of them provide temporary relief. Kamasutra contains many formulas to get rid of pubes.
Conch ash, ash of Butea tree mixed with the oil of chebulic myrobolan is an excellent hair-remover. Pluck the pubic hair and smear this paste on the area. The hair will never germinate again.
Formulas to make a woman infertile: No woman should consume three years old pure ghee because consumption of such ghee for more than fifteen days renders a woman infertile for life-long.
Grind sandal and mustard into fine powder. Add equal quantity of sugar and take it with a decoction of rice. Even the ovulation and menses will stop forever.
Consumption of whole turmeric for six days during the menses renders a woman infertile for rest of her life.

EPILOGUE

ILLICIT CONNECTION WITH A MARRIED WOMAN

Traditionally, illicit relation with a married woman has been considered immoral. But there are lot of examples that show such relations have existed throughout history. Some experts believe that this evil has come from Arabs. Usually, uncontrolled sexual urge in married woman is the main driving force for such illicit relations. There are however instances when considerate people deserted such women who had even occupied their beds. In Mahabharat, during his stay in heaven, Arjun rejected the sex-driven plea of Urvashi because he knew that she was the mother of Chandravansha. As such, Urvashi was like a great-great grandmother of Arjun. So, he turned down her pleas for the sake of chastity. Thus, Kamasutra forbids such illicit relations with women who are akin to mother, sister or daughter even by distant relation. Otherwise, Kamasutra has no objection over having a physical relation with a married woman provided that it is the woman who takes the initiative.
CONDUCT IN EXTRA-MARITAL AFFAIRS:
All the men and women in a society appear more or less similar. One cannot figure out those men or women who might have extra-marital affairs or are prone to have such affairs. An acute observation of the behaviour, such people can easily be recognized. Experts opine that from figure and bodily postures, promiscuous women can easily be recognized. Old ladies look for these symptoms to ascertain the character of their would-be daughter-in-law. First of all, feet of the woman are observed. If the finger adjoining the thumb is longer than the thumb, if the middle finger is longer than the first finger and the little finger does not touch the ground while walking, such a woman might have a loose character.
Maharshi Vatsyayan says that almost every woman aspires a beautiful male and feels drawn to him at first sight. The nature of males is more or less similar. They too aspire pretty women and like to have their company. Most of the women however manage to contain their desires but a few, of loose character, see no evil in having a casual but intimate relation with handsome males. Another category of women show no interest at first. But with continuous and persisting efforts and pursuing, they too submit their selves to the handsome males. It is an inherent nature of males that they long for the things, which are difficult to get. They like the wife of others more than their own.
But whether one has an access to other married women or not, one should avoid having illicit extra-marital relations. He should be long-sighted enough to foresee the consequences of such an extra-marital relation. More than often, a married woman is deserted by her husband because she has some serious illness or is insane. Such a woman would inevitably seek the company of other males. But the consequences of such relations are always disastrous.
WOMEN OBTAINED WITHOUT EFFORTS:
There is a whole range of women who submit before the sexual advances of men without slightest resistance. One doesn't have to work hard to get such women to his bed. This category of women includes those who always stand on the entrance of their home, those who always stand on the roof and look down into the lane, those who enjoy long talks with their young neighbours, those who look intently into the eyes of the men and look sideways when caught, those who hate their husband or hated by their husband, independent spinsters, those who stay with their parents, those who lost their children immediately after birth and those who talk a lot. Apart from these women, women of the gypsies, widows, poor women fond of pomp and show, women who have many brothers-in-law are some other types who are prone to develop extra-marital affairs easily. Those women whose husbands are impotent, afflicted with serious disease, cowards, hunchback, dwarf, ugly, and old also submit easily to the sexual advances of other men.
PROTECTION OF WIFE:
In the society, there is a complete horde of men who keep on lurking around married women. Some men have addiction like weakness for married women. It is therefore, the duty of every sensible man to guard his wife against these prowling ‘nymphomaniacs'.
Ways to protect the wife: Appoint such member of the family who is fully trustworthy and whose sexual urges have been successfully tested to keep a watch on the wife. Test the character of wife through some trustworthy old lady who has no self-interest.
Reasons for wife running amok: Getting permission from the husband for independent behaviour, living in pressure, talking freely with other men are some reasons that provoke a woman to seek company of other men, despite living with husband. Alternatively, if the husband has migrated out, a woman feels unsatisfied regarding her physical requirements. In such situations, a lonely woman is more prone to fall in the company of characterless women who open many channels for her. Consumption of inebriating drinks and eatables, company of bad men, wandering aimlessly, sleeping at wrong hours and living in someone else's home are some other reasons that encourage a married woman to develop extra-marital affairs.
Elaborating the causes and outcome of extra-marital affairs, Acharya Vatsyayan says that with thorough knowledge of Kamasutra, a man can protect his wife from the leers of other men. Extra-marital affairs always lead to destruction of religion and wealth. Therefore, one should never apply any of the methods described so far to win a married woman in his life. But he should know the subtleties related to these affairs and accordingly protect his wife.
